Tell me more about the Balmullo Social Committee
The Balmullo Social Committee has been established to bring the community together by organising social events through-out the year. In recent years it has been increasingly challenging to get members of the community to join what was the Gala Committee, so there wasn’t enough people to plan, organise and run a large event such as the Gala. As an alternative, the Social Committee was formed to organise smaller, more regular events. This means the number/level of events will match the number of people in the committee. If in future, we have a larger committee there is no reason why we couldn’t hold another traditional Gala day on the traditional 2nd Saturday in June.
What is the Balmullo Social Committee?
The Social Committee is open to anyone who is 16 years or over and living in the Balmullo area. Anyone who is a full member of the committee has full voting rights over decision made in relation to the planning and running of events. The Management Committee consists of 4 office bearer roles: Chairperson; Vice-Chairperson; Treasurer and Secretary. All the office bearers and full committee members are in a Whatsapp group and keep in touch regularly.
How often do the Balmullo Social Committee Meet?
There is an Annual General Meeting each year around September/October where the Committee for the following year is appointed. The rest of the year we plan to have a monthly meeting to discuss any new ideas and to organise any upcoming events. There is no requirement for committee members to attend every meeting. We also aim to reach out to the community through Facebook to ask for suggestions and feedback which will hopefully mean those who can’t make meetings will still have a voice.
What are the Office Bearer roles and what do they do?
