We hold regular meetings (see meeting minutes below) on the second Monday of every month except July and August at the Burnside Hall to which you are very welcome to join. (Details from the Secretary)

Community Councils are the lowest tier of democratic government in Scotland.  Our size is proportionate to the size of our community – in Balmullo’s case, up to 11 members for a village of some 1400 households.  We interact with the regional (Fife) Council on immediate local issues and on services such as building-plans and road safety.

Our members serve for two years – elected in principle, but volunteers in practice, and non-party-political.  We are free to take the lead on projects of charitable and public interest, and we receive specialised advice and training for this purpose. 

We lead the cluster of Community Councils in north-east Fife on the St Andrews Group on out-of-hours urgent NHS services.  We are founder-members of the Taybridgehead Forum of Community Councils (Balmullo, Gauldry, Newport, Tayport, Leuchars and Guardbridge), meeting bi-monthly to discuss matters of concern to the area and, where possible, draw on new government initiatives and help with funding different projects.

Our meetings – in Burnside Hall on the second Monday in every month – are public and their proceedings are formally recorded. We welcome any new proposals for community-based action.
